Video: Can I go to another state to get a license if my driver’s license is revoked in Illinois?

Transcript:
Our Chicago-based law practice focuses exclusively on Illinois driver’s license reinstatement.
In this video, we answer a question asked in many consultations…
Can I ignore my Illinois DUI revocation and just apply for a driver’s license in a new state?
Due to the federal PDPS database, a revocation in one state should be visible to every other state’s licensing agency.
The computerized database allows states to make a national report of persons who have had their driver’s licenses revoked, suspended, cancelled, or denied.
As of August 2020, all fifty states were reporting to the PDPS database.
A state may deny driving privileges to an applicant who is revoked, or otherwise “not eligible,” in the PDPS database.
If the database shows a revocation, the state that entered the hold on the license is generally the proper venue to clear it.
We recommend consulting with an experienced driver’s license attorney prior to making any legal decisions.
For Illinois suspensions and revocations, we welcome revoked drivers to call our office for a free consultation on driver’s license reinstatement.
